collections services...

Hi, I'm a collection lawyer located in San Francisco, California, and I'm experienced at debt collection. If a person or a business owes you money, a collection lawyer can help you legally collect the money. If you don't have a court judgment, I'll first help get you the judgment, and then as an experienced collection lawyer, I use all the techniques of judgement collection to recover your money.

In my experience as a collection lawyer, I find that creditors like yourself fall into two categories:

  • A person or business owes you money but you don't have a court judgment yet.
  • You already have a court judgment, but you haven't been able to collect the money from the judgment.

In the first situation, without a court judgment, other than persistent reminders in the hopes of wearing the debtor down, there is no legal way to force the person to pay you unless you have a court judgment. A collection lawyer can help you extract money from the debtor.  As a collection lawyer, I help with debt collection by filing suit and getting you a court judgment.

In the second situation, where a court has awarded you a judgment for money, as a collection lawyer, I help with debt collection and judgment collection by using all the powers of the court to get your judgment money from the debtor's assets or income.  Once the judgment is awarded, it is valid and effective for collections for up to 10 years, and it can be renewed before expiration for another ten years.  California law now allows for interest on unpaid judgments in the amount of 10% per year, simple interest.

One of the common reasons for needing the services of a collection lawyer is due to a contract dispute. This is typically due to a breach of contract by one of the contracting parties.
